As of 1 January 2024 has been established the Special Economic Zone for Southern Italy - Single SEZ, which includes all the municipalities in the territories of the regions of Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Apulia, Sicily and Sardinia.

The One-stop Shop SEZ of the South of Italy is the tool through which businesses intending to submit a project to set up in a single digital desk SEZ for Southern Italy will be able to apply for a Single Authorisation. The Dedicated Unit incorporates the functions already held by the Extraordinary Commissioners of the 8 Special Economic Zones.

As of 1 March 2024, the Single Desk SEZ is active for all municipalities belonging to the Special Economic Zone for Southern Italy.
